The Eagle has landed!

Storm Eagle that is. Hey it's the Godfather/Tenzion and I'm proud to announce that I finally got the Storm Eagle I bought at Games Day Chicago put together!! Haven't fielded it yet, but thinking that might happen this week. Can't wait! As far as the model it self, it was a pain to put together. Some of the worst warping I've seen from a resin cast. It took about an hour just to straighten the resin parts and then a grooling 4 hours to put everything together. This was all do to the fact that the resin was fat in some areas and had to trim it down. I love the model itself. I had to keep telling myself that as I was putting it together (and with a few trips to my "happy" place). At last I completed the model and it's got some rough glue edges to touch up before it's ready to paint, but I don't think Tanksmasher will have any trouble getting it to look amazing. I also had the time to put a lot of Space Wolves markings and pieces on to show that this ride is all about the Wolves. It's a much needed Flyer support they truly need since they don't have any flyers. Please look at a couple of more pics below. I will tell you how it does when I field it soon. Happy War Gaming!

Games Day Chicago!

Good morning all, Throatpunch here.
Gamesday Chicago is rapidly approaching, and tickets have been bought, rooms have been reserved, Forge World order is in, and now we wait.  A few of the Four Horsemen will be making an appearance, Tenzion/Godfather aka Jared, Billy aka T4nksmasher, Nate and Warboss Rob, and myself. Lord Macragge aka AJ may be there as well, I haven't had confirmation on that as of yet.

I know that Billy is looking at taking in some of the painting, and I am looking forward to getting some games in.  I think it would be cool to meet Phil Kelly as well while I am there.  I also want to check out the Armies on Parade, and watch the costume contest.  I will be picking up Corsair conversion kits to get that army going.

I am hoping to do a write up and get a ton of pictures to share as well.

First Impressions of Necrons in 6th

Good morning all!
Throatpunch here, I was able to get my first game in under sixth and thought I would share some of my thoughts about how Necrons played out for me. We played a 3 way game, my Necrons vs Jared's CSM vs Nate's Blood Angels.  Mission rolled was The Relic, and we had night fighting for the first turn.  I do have to say I felt a little left out while Jared and Nate were selecting their shiny new psychic powers, but that feeling would pass quickly.

We played a 2000 point game, and a summary of my list is as follows:

HQ
Overlord on a barge w/ Warscythe, Phylactery, Scarabs, Phase Shifter and Sempiternal Weave, and a Tesseract Labyrinth (which I forgot to use, lol)
Court
Harbringer of Despair with a Veil of Darkness
4 Lords with Res Orbs

Elites
Deathmarks (5) (Harbringer went here)

Troops
Necron Immortals (10) Tesla (Lord)
Necron Immortals (10) Tesla (Lord)
Necron Warriors (20) (Lord)
Necron Warriors (20) (Lord)

Fast Attack
Destroyers (2) Heavy Destroyer (1)

Heavy Support
Annihilation Barge
Necron Monolith

The warriors were selected with new Gauss and Rapid Fire in mind.  The idea of 40 shots each squad when in Rapid Fire was too much to turn down, and being able to move and shoot that many Gauss shots was fantastic.  The warriors ate a Chaos Land Raider in turn 2 or 3.
This was my first time employing the Veiltek/Deathmark combo, and it worked really well, tearing through some palgue marines with pretty good efficiency.  Rapid Fire on the Synaptic Disruptors is nice.  I was very aggressive with the deep striking in this game, and for once it did not bite me in the ass.  No mishaps all game with moving the deathmarks around and with bringing in the monolith.
One thing I did miss was some sort of assaulting harassment, or counter charging units.  I will need to make sure to make some room going forward to get this done. The Destroyers scooted around the board taking pot shots and just being generally annoying, I do have to remember Preferred Enemy going forward, there were a few times I forgot to take advantage of this.
The Overlord Barge was a huge pain in the ass, sticking in the game until the end, mostly moping up units and bouncing around to get the chariot attacks.  The Overlord did die once, but came back and at full wounds due to a good Phylactery roll.
I brought the Monolith in right at the objective using deep strike, in the hopes to pull some troops in through the gate to grab the objective.  Sadly this was not to be.  Hull points of 4 are nice, but the monolith sat with it's gate blocked for the remainder of the game, and could not move.
Tesla Immortals performed as they usually do getting off lots of shots.  This unit never lets me down.
Annihilation Barge zipped around the battlefield looking for infantry units to fire on, and lost it's Destructor in turn 3.

Thing that I liked about 6th edition so far:  Less painful deep striking, much easier to bring in reserves, OVERWATCH with Gauss and Tesla.  I am still a little confused with movement, victory points, and close combat.  I think that these will clear up once I get my own copy of the book and can spend some time reading and re-reading the rules, and through more games played.

Most of all I am thankful that I decided to change armies away from Tyranids to Necrons at the beginning of the year.

Please share your experiences in the comments!

Checkpoint!

Ello guys! Ninvizible here ready to share my Chaos Space Marine army! Sorry about the not-so-great pictures. Not too many good light sources around.

Anyway, I decided to pull out ALL of my models and take pictures for the blog. I haven't seen my full army on table yet so when I did I was impressed. I am quite happy with my army, seeing now that it is quite a nice size. I have 52 Chaos Marines, 28 Khorne Berserkers, 6 Plague Marines, 5 Rhinos (including 2nd ED), 4 bikers, 10 terminators (some converted Legion of the Damned too), 10 Possessed, a Chaos Lord, and of course, Rupert the Daemon Prince, Big Jim and Awesome Steve, Abaddon the Despoiler, and of course Ghetto Kharn.

***Like Rupert the Daemon Prince and Big Jim and Awesome Steve, more "Special Characters" will come soon after I paint them.***

This comes out to 3103 points. But oh no, I am not finished. I still need more Daemon Princes, Rhinos, Khorne Berserkers, Plague Marines, and Im going to try to convert myself a Brass Scorpion. AND I NEED TO PAINT. A LOT.

I'm done with this, NOW LOOK AT MY PICTURES.

5th Edition Dirge, Reaching Crescendo

The end of 5th edition is not the end of the world.  It's not even the end of the game.  You have the choice to save your money and continue playing in 5th edition if you like.

Throatpunch here, looking around in the comments on various sites and blogs in the last few weeks I have seen a lot of people throwing fits and threatening to rage quit.  I would like to say to these people, the new rules aren't even here yet.  Rumors about rules you are seeing are just that.  Rumors.  I have yet to see anyone come out with any type of verification or confirmation to shore up the rumors being shown.

I understand that the interwebs have become a place for anyone to go and rage anonymously.  I get it that some people tend to thrive on drama.  It is simply disappointing to me how quickly people are willing to turn on something they have had a lot of good times with.  Only because it is known that things will change, but not what the changes are.  The whole point of a game or hobby is to have fun and not add stress but relieve it.

But hey, if you want to rage quit, and throw your fits all over the internet, go for it.

However, before you go, can I have your stuff?

New Leak/Rumor from Faeit 212!

Post title says it all, this just went up at Faeit 212, be sure to check them out regularly for great rumor scoops!

via Darnok,
Warhammer 40,000: Rulebook, £45
There is no time for peace. No respite. No forgiveness.
There is only WAR.

In the nightmare future of the 41st Millennium, Mankind teeters upon the brink of destruction. The galaxy-spanning Imperium of Man is beset on all sides by ravening aliens and threatened from within by Warp-spawned entities and heretical plots. Only the strength of the immortal Emperor of Terra stands between humanity and its annihilation, and in his name, countless warriors and agents do battle against the encroaching darkness. Foremost amongst them stand the Space Marines, the ultimate protectors of Mankind.

Across airless moons, within the depths of dark, twisted hive worlds and even in the immaterial realm of Warp space, battles rage that will shape the future of the galaxy forever.

It is a universe that you can enter today, if you dare. But remember that this is a dark and terrible era, and there is no peace amongst the stars...

The Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook is your essential guide to playing atmospheric battles in the 41st Millennium. It helps you field majestic armies of Citadel miniatures across the war-ravaged battlefields of the far-future, in the ultimate contest of strategy and skill.

With 440 full-colour pages, this hardback Rulebook is packed with rich background and contains all the rules for fighting pulse-pounding tabletop battles. The Rulebook includes exciting features such as dynamic close-combat, flyers, psychic devastation and interactive scenery. As well as jaw-dropping artwork, contained within is a history of the 41st Millennium and a richly detailed guide to the races and weapons of the far-future. It also features a comprehensive hobby section to set you on the path to choosing, collecting and building your own Warhammer 40,000 army of Citadel miniatures.

Warhammer 40,000: Psychic Powers, £8
One of the many exciting features of Warhammer 40,000 is Psychic devastation, where Psykers wreak havoc on the battlefield. Psychic Powers is the complete set of Psychic cards, which be used in conjunction with Psychic Disciplines. They make a great accessory to your tabletop games.

This set contains 35 large-format cards and come stored in a plastic fan-opening case, which bears the Aquila. There are 7 cards for each Psychic Discipline, each of which is represented by distinct artwork. There is also an instruction leaflet that classifies which powers can be used by the main Psykers in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

There are also "Munitorum Templates" (£12, designed with a metal effect look), "Munitorum Tape Measure" (£10, looking like a Servoskull) and "Munitorum Dice" (£10, while stocks last).

Corsairs Slow Build Begins!

Greetings from Throatpunch!

Recently in my introduction post over on Imperius Dominatus,  I explained how I recently narrowed my focus for armies resulting in having only the Necrons to build out.  Things have changed.  I came across a wonderful deal on an Eldar army, from T4nkSmasher, trading out everything I had for Warmachine for his Eldar army.

After going through what I received, taking a look at the most recent codex and FAQ, and searching around a bit on the interwebs, I decided that I will be slow building out the army as Eldar Corsairs from IA:11.  I really like the speed of the list, and I think it will provide a nice contrast to my Necrons.  I have already checked with the rest of the Four Horsemen, and they have no objections.

The build out will be slow going, as conversion pieces from Forge World are expensive.  I did however find this article over on From The Warp.  Ron put together a great tutorial as always.  This looks like a great alternative to purchasing the kit, and I am seriously considering going this route.  Problem is, I do not have a lot of spare time, so it may be worth it for me to just pull the trigger and add to Forge World's coffers.

So, to sum up, expect to see the Corsairs in future battle reports, and lists will be coming once I have some games under my belt.  Feel free to share any comments or suggestions in the notes.

Rupert the Daemon Prince?

This is Rupert. The Daemon Prince.
Despite being a Khornate Monstrous Creature with 2 massive swords, he's actually a pretty cool guy, and a generous lover. You can even ask Penny P., The Slaaneshi Daemon Princess.
This is Rupert in his unpainted stage. The base isn't well shown. But I spent extra special time on the base, and I'm happy with it.

NEWS FLASH FH40K!!!

Hey everyone! It is I, Jared with the Four Horsemen. I know, I know, you're thinking "where the hell have you been?" Well with life and finishing armies and starting new ones and working on terrain and what not to better your experiences when watching our videos, needless to say, we've been way too busy. So here's a video on some news and stuff going on with the Four Horsemen. Enjoy! Battle reports will be coming back soon, most likely next week! Comment!

KHAOS SPEHSS MAHREENS!?

Hey guys! Its your not-so-friendly and heretical Ninvizible here! Nah just kidding I'm friendly. Most of the time. Well anyway, about a month ago I started playing Chaos Space Marines, because I love them, and I proved to do fairly well with them. Much more simple and fun - in my opinion - than Imperial Guard.

So thanks to Tenzion for getting the Guard sold and then buying me a Chaos army from eBay, I will now have a Chaos army. I will be painting them like the Bleak Brotherhood, a mysterious possible splinter-faction of the Warp Ghosts. They have very very little lore, so, I'll write my own, maaaaybe post it on here. I will definitely post my progress. Now enjoy the pictures below!
One being Bleak Brotherhood armor and my current collection of Khorne Berserker's! :D

Rise of the Flyers!!

Rise of the flyers has been announced here is some pics *pics from the interwebs* for you to enjoy. Tanksmasher Drool.............

Mrs. Throatpunch's Daemons Cont...

Happy Friday all!

This weekend Mrs Throatpunch and myself will be playing our very first game of 40K together!  I am picking her up Skulltaker and 2 Daemon Princes tonight, and I am thinking that the first game will be 1500 points.  She is very competitive, and it will be interesting to see how quickly she catches on to the rules.

I am kind of getting the feeling that my Necrons versus her Daemons may be a mismatch that is not in my favor.  Daemons are so beast in close that if she gets into my lines, there is not going to be much I can do.  On the flip side I don't think with what she has currently that she will have much anti-armor, so I have that in my favor at least.

I will be sure to provide an update to let you all know how it went.  What do you have planned for the weekend?  Let me know in the comments!

Flayed Ones..Any Uses At All?

Good morning all!
I have been giving a lot of thought to the Necron codex lately, trying to find synergy between units that may have been overlooked.  There is nothing I enjoy more than being able to take a unit that is generally frowned upon, and making it into a viable choice when used.  So I am going to share some of the ideas I have been bouncing around in my head.  These thoughts were not formed with the tournament scene in mind, so please keep that in mind.

First up is the idea of using one or two 6 man squads of wraiths with whips, using the wraiths to pinch off a side of the board.  Wraiths are relatively easy to get to the other side of the table with ignoring terrain and their 3+ + save.  They also put enough hurt on units that they really cannot be ignored, and opponents usually dedicate a part of their force to take them out.  Use the wraiths to try and pinch or lead the enemy to the side of the board, then outflank the flayed ones to decimate whatever was sent after the wraiths.  I do realize this idea counts on a lot of things going in your favor; your opponent taking the bait, and getting the right roll for the side the flayed ones come in on.  Alternatively, when outflanking if you can get your flayed ones in behind a transport, and wrap it, this can be a good way to take out the squad inside, as once the vehicle is wrapped, dump your heavy fire in to pop it. Boom, dead squad.

The other idea I had was using Imotekh's Bloodscarabs ability.  It's obvious what this ability provides, but maybe not so obvious as what to do with them once they are in.  This would be good to use against a unit of Long Fangs for example.  Also the way the rule is written it indicates that any Flayed One squads looking to enter the game through deep strike will not scatter is deployed within 6 inches of the marked target.  This means that you could bring in multiple squads using this ability.  What better way to split the fire of your enemy than dropping up to 60 little buggers in their backyard without scatter or mishap? Again this could also be useful to wrap transports to focus fire.

Don't be afraid to use points to distract/misdirect your opponents.  Be the Overlord, and sacrifice the insane Flayed Ones!
